Strength and conditioning coach in Valencia: plan around your sport
A practical guide to choosing sports preparation in Valencia or online, fitting strength work around competition and understanding the coaching options.
A strength and conditioning coach in Valencia can help you connect your gym work with the demands of your sport. The starting point is your actual week: team training, matches, individual practice, travel and recovery. A useful programme has to fit those commitments before it adds anything new.
I offer individual physical preparation for football, basketball and other sports, with coaching in English or Spanish. You can train in Valencia or follow an online programme wherever you live. This guide explains what to prepare for our first conversation and how to choose the format.
Start with the athlete, the sport and the calendar
You do not need to be a professional athlete. Amateur players and individual competitors also benefit from having a clear purpose for each training session. Before we decide what to do, I need to understand what you already do.
- Your sport and role: discipline, playing position or event, level and main goals.
- Your weekly commitments: practices, matches, work or study and available training days.
- Your experience: previous strength training, familiar exercises and current equipment.
- Your current circumstances: fatigue, recent interruptions and any relevant instructions from your healthcare team.
Bring your next few weeks of fixtures if you have them. A football player with two matches in one week needs a different discussion from someone starting an off-season block. A basketball player who already lifts with the team also needs that work included in the picture.
What changes during the season?
The NSCA describes training seasons with different objectives and highlights the need to include competition dates when planning in-season work. That principle is more useful than copying a fixed weekly routine from another athlete. See the NSCA overview of planning across training seasons.
In practice, I use your schedule to decide where physical preparation can fit. Strength, speed, jumping, conditioning and recovery do not all need the same emphasis every week. When your club changes a session or you play more minutes than expected, tell me so we can review the individual work.
| Context | What we need to clarify |
|---|---|
| Football | Position, minutes played, team conditioning and match schedule. |
| Basketball | Court sessions, game minutes, jumping demands and existing strength work. |
| Individual sport | Main event, technical practice, competition dates and available facilities. |
| Travel or a changing week | Equipment, time and which sessions are realistic at each location. |
These are planning questions, not ready-made prescriptions. The answer may be a shorter session, a different exercise or less additional work that week.

Outdoor work can take place in the Turia Gardens, with a meeting point agreed beforehand. Some goals require suitable gym equipment or facilities: we check this before choosing exercises. I do not operate a private gym at a fixed street address. Club and team support receives a separate quotation based on the agreed work.
How do we know the programme is useful?
We choose a small number of repeatable checks that relate to your priorities. Training records, exercise technique, effort and your response to the week help guide changes. Testing should answer a question, rather than take time away from training without a purpose.
Video feedback can help me review visible aspects of an exercise. It cannot diagnose an injury. If you are injured or returning after treatment, your doctor or physiotherapist must guide the clinical decisions. With your permission, we can coordinate the training with the professionals involved. This team approach is consistent with the NSCA’s guidance on analysing athletes’ needs.
